My Second Day at NILE
What have you covered in today's session?
In today's session, we have learned more information about how to update our blogs. We have also learned how to add pages to our blogs. The importance of adding labels and dates has been emphasized. We have seen an example blog created by Nik Peachey. He has a great blog for English teachers.
Apart from that, we have tried to prepare a presentation about Turkey. We have chosen five different cities and each of us prepared slides about those cities. We used GoogleSlides application for this collaborative activity. After we have finished this activity, we took a group photo together:)
Finally, we have learned how to manage our subsciptions to channels on Youtube and how to create and manage a playlist on Youtube.
What technologies have you been exposed to?
We have learned how to add images, videos and how to edit these by using tools. We have also learned how to add pages to our blogs. Our tutor Russell Stannard has a great video on how to use Blogger.Apart from that, we received some information about how to make use of Youtube for teaching and learning.
How might you use the technologies/techniques in your own teaching and learning?
I can teach my students how to add images and videos to their presentations in appropriate sizes, colors etc. In addition, my students will be able to work collaboratively on GoogleSlides while preparing powerpoint presentations. They will also be able to use blogs for a variety of purposes.
What value would these techniques/technologies add to your teaching and learning?
These techniques might encourage my students to work collaboratively both inside and outside the classroom. They might also use GoogleSlides more effectively. Futhermore, they will realize the value of keeping a blog for their academic career.
What challenges do you foresee?
My students might not be able to work collaboratively on GoogleSlides as this takes a lot of practice and effort. They might have trouble in keeping a blog unless they are trained well.
